EVENTS & PROJECTS

Platform Artspace hosts projects, workshops, exhibitions, and pop up events. The focus is on short-term, temporary projects that engage publics, foster critical discourse, and focus on participatory art making strategies. While many activities are curated by students and faculty, there are some open calls for participation.

Platform Artspace is part of the Department of Art Practice at UC Berkeley, and we acknowledge that the land we use is unceded Lisjan Ohlone land. We seek to support artists who have been underrepresented in traditional gallery and academic spaces, including artists who identify as BIPOC, LGBTQ+, non-binary, and people with disabilities. We especially welcome first generation college students and students who have children.

Like the entire UC campus, Platform Artspace is built on unceded Lisjan Ohlone land in the Village of Huichin. We take into account our privilege and the role of settler colonialism in being able to exist in our current location. Learn what Native land you may exist on here.

EVENT APPLICATION

Platform Artspace is ran collectively by Professor Jill Miller, Community Engagement Liaison Nassirah Nelson, and a team of student leaders who organize events and curate projects. Please fill out the application form if you’d like to curate an exhibition, host an event, or set up a meeting for your student group.
